  • Wait 24 hours before getting your lashes wet. Avoid also steamy environments, hot showers, spas, saunas for 24 hours to let the adhesive to cure as strongly as possible.
  • Use oil free products on your face, particularly eye makeup removers and cleansers.
  • If you have a very oily face, try to control this as much as possible with blotting papers, mattifying lotions etc. and by using oil-control moisturizer.
  • Clean them properly with a foaming eyelash cleanser everyday.

DON’T

  • Don’t use mascara, and waterproof or oil based eyeliner
  • Try not to touch them much, oils from your fingers make them fall off faster.
  • Try not to use baby wipes/makeup wipes/cotton pads to wipe makeup off around eye area. Cotton or fluffy products tens to get stuck at the route of the extensions.
  • Don’t try to remove them yourself – as it may damage your natural lashes.
  • Don’t scratch you eyes.
  • When you have an active sty or any irregular condition on your eyes/eyelids, let us know and reschedule your eyelash appointment.
How to prepare for my first lash procedure?

The success of your lash procedure will depend on condition of your natural lashes and you following few simple steps: come with no makeup/mascara or spf cream around your eyes, wear comfortable clothes, so you can be fully relaxed and avoid too much movement as you will be laying down still for almost 2 hours. Please dedicate 2 hours of your time for the best results, no calls or email checks, as you won’t be able to open your eyes. Instead, choose a mediation or podcast that you can enjoy and have some “me time”.

Can I wear contact lenses during the procedure?

If you have a tendency for dry eyes when you wear contact lenses, we recommend that you take them off and keep them in your personal container until the procedure is completed. ( we do not provide containers)

I feel irritation right after the procedure, what do I do?

First, at Lashnista we have an option to apply special glue for sensitive eyes, so if you feel like your eyes and skin might react, please ask our technician to tell you more about this option. If the irritation occurs after lash application, please give it at least an hour, as the condition usually goes away and you can enjoy your new look. If there is any concerns, please contact us.

I feel like I’m getting a sty or pink eye, should I still come for a procedure?

As soon as you notice something abnormal in your eye area, please call and reschedule, as we will not be able to provide our services, due to health and safety reasons.

I’ve noticed that my lashes are falling out, is that fine?

The extension falls out attached to the natural lash when it is ready to come out, and a new baby lash takes its place. Some days you won’t lose any, other days you might lose 3 or 4. It’s completely normal and does not mean your eyelashes are all going to fall out. At Lashnista we specialize on healthy lash cycle, so we perform lashing with care for your natural lashes in mind. So even if you decide to stop applying extension, your natural lashes will be healthy ( as long as you follow all our protocol and after care instructions)

A 3 week set VS full set, what is the difference?

If you book a 3 week refill, but it has been 21 days since your last visit, it will be considered a full set. At Lashnista we concentrate on high quality of performance, so to maintain a healthy lash growing cycle and lasting effect, a full new set will be applied after 21 days since the last appointment.

Can I remove lashes on my own? I want to take a break.

We highly discourage removing lashes by yourself as this process might permanently damage your natural lashes. We use professional proper care to stimulate healthy lash removal and recommend having removal procedure with our professionals.

I’m losing too many lashes ( within the first 3 days after appointment ) . What can I do?

If you notice “gaps” right after you got your brand new set, contact us RIGHT AWAY and no less than within 4 days from your last visit, send us a picture of your lashes so we can better understand the nature of the issue and provide care.

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are synthetic eyelashes that are bonded to your natural eyelashes to make your lashes look seamlessly longer, fuller, and/or curlier. There are many different types of eyelash extensions that vary in diameter, curls, lengths, and colors to customize eyelash extension styles.

What are eyelash extensions made of?

Both silk and faux mink eyelash extensions are synthetic eyelashes that are made of PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) which is a high quality polymer, and a type of polyester. This material is heated and then moulded to create the lash extension. It is very light, soft but strong and it mimics the look and feel of an eyelash in varying diameters (thicknesses), curl, and length

How are eyelash extensions applied?

At Lashnista, a multi-certified and experienced Eyelash Extension Artist uses a medical-grade adhesive to apply the eyelash extension (Classic) or a handmade fan (Volume) onto the base of a single, properly isolated natural lash. This is done throughout the lash line, to achieve a desired look of fullness, length, more curl or combinations of the above.

When should I get lashes for my special event?

We highly recommend that you book your initial Full Set 2 weeks before and a Touch Up 1-2 days before your event. This allows us the opportunity to best achieve your ideal lash style, get you used to wearing extensions, as well as eliminate any unlikely but possible sensitivities/reactions you may have right before your event. Our clients are very happy with their special event lashes when booked in these two steps

Do you carry differen types of eyelash extensions?

Yes we do! We carry premium quality eyelash extensions that vary in thickness, lengths, colours, and different tapers to suit both the health of your lashes and to create the style that fits you best.

hat is the difference between Classic, Volume, and Megavolume sets?

Classic Extensions (TOP) – attaching one eyelash extension to one natural lash to create length, curl, and a thicker-looking set of lashes, similar to the look of mascara. Volume Extensions (BOTTOM) – using the skillfully Russian Volume technique, a handmade fan of lightweight eyelash extensions are created and then attached to a properly isolated NL to create a full, soft, and fluffy look similar to falsies or strip lashes. Fans can consist of anywhere from 2 extensions (2 dimension=2D) to 6 extensions (6D) depending on the fullness desired. Hybrid Extensions (MIDDLE) – The best of both worlds! The combination of both classic and Russian Volume technique results in this in-between look. ***As an artist can only work with the size of their canvas, I can only provide you with eyelash sizes/styles that are suitable for the health of your natural eyelashes. Your eyelash health is my top concern and as such, results will vary. We can work together to create looks that you’ll love that won’t damage the integrity of your lashes.***

How long do eyelash extensions take?

Length of service depends on a variety of factors. Type of service, amount of natural lashes, the direction of natural lashes (crisscrossed vs. straight), eyelash gaps, and the ability to lay still, all contribute to the length of the service. Please refer to the services & pricing page for more information on the duration and details of your appointment. Please ensure you have arranged for enough time to cover the length of the appointment. Do eyelash extensions hurt?

If applied properly, eyelash extensions should not hurt. Our Eyelash Extension Artist is multi-certified, experienced, and takes great care in ensuring your comfort throughout the entire process. Our artist chooses an eyelash length and thickness that is suitable for your lashes and the look you desire. Throughout the appointment, she double and triple checks to ensure your eyelashes are gently and properly isolated throughout your eyelash set so that each natural lash can grow through its life cycle uninterrupted. Many clients feel so comfortable and relaxed that they often fall asleep during the appointment.

Can eyelash extensions damage my natural eyelashes? Are they safe?

If proper application procedures and aftercare instructions are followed, eyelash extensions should not damage your natural eyelashes. Our certified Eyelash Specialist’s greatest priority is the health of your eyelashes and as such we exceed guidelines that adhere to Alberta Health regulations. Our Eyelash Specialist will go over aftercare instructions with you at your appointment to ensure you do your part as a client to maintain the health of your eyelashes during eyelash extension wear.

How long do lash extensions last?

The longevity of your Eyelash Extensions depends on a variety of factors such as lash growth cycle, personal lifestyle, and proper eyelash aftercare. Clients are recommended to schedule Fills within the 2-4 week range to Maintain their Eyelash Extensions. If you choose not to maintain your lash extensions, with proper aftercare, you can expect your lash extensions to last anywhere from 5-8 weeks as they grow out and come off with your natural lashes without any damage at all to your natural lash cycle.

What is a Touch Up? What is a Fill?

At a Touch Up or Fill appointment, the Eyelash Specialist removes grown-out extensions and applies extensions closer to the base of new eyelash growth for a beautiful, complete set. Touch Up’s and Fills are shorter in duration than Full Sets and we recommend clients schedule their Fill within 2-4 weeks of the last appointment. Touch Up’s and Fills scheduled after 4 weeks will be required to adhere to Full Set pricing.

I love my extensions, but I want to try something a little different. Can you do it?

Absolutely! We are able to change the look of your extensions, whether it’s the shape, curl, thickness, length, volume, or color, so long as your natural eyelashes can safely support the look you desire. Our Eyelash Specialist is happy to discuss your vision with you and we love trying out new eyelash styles!

Can I wear makeup?

At your first appointment, our Eyelash Specialist will go over Aftercare instructions with you. You will receive an aftercare package with detailed instructions on how to best maintain your Eyelash Extensions. Lashnista also retails a cleanser that is Eyelash Extension safe.

LASHNISTA uses premium eyelash extension products so you may go swimming, shower, and go in the sauna with eyelash extensions right after application

Help! A lot of lashes fell out in the first week of getting lash extensions. Why is this happening

Eyelashes typically shed at a rate of 2-5 a day, per eye. This is within the normal range. If you take a closer look at the eyelash and notice the natural eyelash is attached to the extension, this is part of your normal eyelash shedding cycle. If you notice excessive eyelash extension loss within the first 3 days of your appointment, please contact Lashnista to schedule a complimentary fill appointment, where we can address retention issues and work together to make your extensions last.

What is lash shedding season?

As the seasons change, we may notice our hair cycles change in response to varying hormones changes, stress, or changes in sunlight (Vitamin D). At periodic times throughout the year, you may notice more hair shedding. As our bodies experience stress, hormonal changes, or due to the natural hair cycles, we may appear to shed more during certain times than others. Rest assured, this will pass in about 4-6 weeks. What you can do as a client is if you notice more lash loss earlier than usual, you can reschedule your fill online earlier, or contact me directly for some available times. With a little patience, your cycle will return to its growing state. There will be individual differences in shedding but have faith that this is a natural part of our hair growth cycle and it will pass.

I have blonde lashes, but I want black extensions, will my blonde lashes show? Do I need a tint first?

The black lashes will show up beautifully amongst your blonde lashes, there is no need to get a tint first. However, if you would like your lashes tinted to conceal them better, you can book a lash tint with us prior to your eyelash extension appointment.

How do I remove my eyelashes extensions?

Please book an appointment for an Eyelash Extension removal. Never try removing extensions without a professional. Potential risks may include damaging your natural lashes and permanent eyelash loss.

Do you fill other artists’ work?

Yes, we do Fills on other artists’ work, if the work meets Lashnista health standards and if your eyelash health is not being compromised. If your current lashes do not meet our health standards, Lashnista, we offer a complimentary removal prior to a Full Set booking.

Can I use mascara?

We highly recommend avoiding mascara with eyelash extensions. Waterproof mascara must be avoided as it is extremely difficult to clean off of eyelash extensions, and may affect your retention.

Can I use eyeliner?

Yes, please use an eyelash extension safe eyeliner. Lashnista offers a black eyeliner for sale that is safe for eyelash extensions and does not cause a build-up of wax that other brands may have that would affect retention.

What product should I avoid?

Any oil-based products used around the eye area should be avoided 2-3 days before your appointment.

Can I tint my eyelash extensions?

We use eyelash extensions that are a rich black hue so tinting is not required.

Can I use a heated or manual eyelash curler on my extensions?

Absolutely not. Avoid any eyelash curlers- manual or heated. Excessive heat will affect the curl and may damage your extensions.

Is it normal for my own lashes to fall out with the extension, or are they falling of because of the eyelash extension?

Yes, given that appropriate weight of extension was used, and there was not any tugging, pulling, picking, or excessive friction on your lashes, it is normal for your own lashes to fall out with the extension. This is all part of your normal eyelash cycle.

I’ve had eyelash extensions before, and during application my eyes were stinging, can you prevent this?

Your eyes should not sting during an eyelash appointment, however, this may be due to the eyelids not fully closing, and exposure to adhesive vapours. Our eyelash extension specialist will ensure your eyes are fully closed during application to prevent this from happening

Can I wear makeup to my eyelash appointment?

Please make sure that your eyes are makeup free and cleansed prior to your appointment. Eyelashes that are not clean will require more time cleaning and this takes away valuable time that could be spent on eyelash extension application. We want you to have the fullest lash line possible, so please come ready to be lashed!

I have a special event that I want to get eyelash extensions for. How early before the event should I schedule my appointment??

We recommend scheduling your first Full Set appointment 2 weeks before your special event/vacation. After your first appointment, a Fill is scheduled 1-2 days before your event to help address any retention issues, adjust eyelash styles/lengths/thickness to achieve your desired look. This is the best way to make sure you are fully satisfied with your beautiful lashes and are event-ready!

I’ve had eyelash extensions before and I had an allergic reaction. Can I get them again?

Unfortunately, once you’ve had an allergic reaction to eyelash extension adhesive, the allergic reaction tends to get worse over time. However, sensitivities are different than allergic reactions. We use premium products and we can help alleviate any sensitivities you may have. We can schedule a consultation to take appropriate steps to determine if you are allergic to the eyelash extension adhesive used at Lashnista. My eyes are uneven/shaped differently. Can extensions help correct the appearance of my uneven eyes?

Yes! Eyelash extensions can help balance out your facial features, if eye styling is done correctly. Please mention this at your appointment and we can work together to achieve facial symmetry. This may occur over the duration of several appointments so with a little patience and teamwork, we can help achieve a very flattering eyelash style!

I have very straight lashes. If I get eyelash extensions, will my straight lashes show?

The eyelash extensions are so eye-catching that your straight lashes will hardly be noticed. It is not required to curl or perm your lashes prior to your eyelash extension appointment. Straight lashes are actually easier to work with!

Do you offer mink eyelashes?

No, we do not carry mink extensions. We currently offer incredibly soft synthetic mink and silk eyelash extensions of varying diameters, curls, lengths, and colours.

It’s been over four weeks since my last appointment, can I book in for a fill?

Yes! I hold three certifications that allow me to provide Eyelash Lift and Tint services, Classic Eyelash Extensions, and Volume Eyelash Extensions at our Lashnista studio.
